December 09 (Update).

I received a letter from my consultant yesterday dated the 20th of November. Based on my Ferretin levels he felt that I should raise my Prednisolone level by 2mg. The last Ferretin level he had seen was 505ug/l. But I had subsequently had one at 395ug/l  so I phoned my GP to discuss a course of action. He agreed that we should continue at the Prednisolone level I am at and stop Taking Fe SO4 altogether. I am getting my regular blood tests in 11 day so we can monitor it then.

December 09

An end of year summary. I saw Dr Stark today and as ever he was very helpful. I've had an ongoing problem with slightly elevated Ferretin levels. The upper end of the range for it is 300. Two months ago it tested at 505, This had risen slightly from 431. With this being the case my steroids were kept at 4mg. I attributed this to the possible stress and fatigue of moving house, so the next test was a normal one. The problems I had with Gamma GT and ALT seem to be resolved.

I had a blood test a week ago and the results are fine with the Ferretin down to 395. This is means it's going in the right direction but still not lower than 300. I see my consultant in January so we'll test again before then. I spoke to Dr Stark about the correlation between the levels of Ferretin and taking Ferrous Sulphate. He agreed that this could be elevating the levels so I will reduce this.
