January 08

Throughout December a period of stability was established so the steroid dosage could be altered. The aim was to reduce the Prednisolone by 2.5mg decrements every 2 weeks. This was successfully carried out with no ill effects to 15 mg. Once this level was reached I was aware of an incease in joint pain and stiffness. It was agreed with my consultant to stay at this level for one month.

Due to the itching problems I had, an infection had developed in my lower right leg. To treat this a course of anti-biotics was prescribed. Prior to this my ESR had lowered to 2 and Ferretin was in the region of 2500. It is now around 20 however. The steriod reduction has been halted until my leg infection clears. The weekly Methotrexate dosages have also been stopped for two weeks to help this.
